PS3 will charge phone but won't charge or sync controllers

I can't get my PS3 slim to recognize 2 controllers that work on other systems. I've reset the controllers and swapped out 3 different cables to no avail. Just to see if the ports were dead I plugged in my phone and it started charging immediately. What do I do?!
