I can get on the PS3 web browser and can download stuff fine but when i try to play games i can't even find a room. The only game i've been able to play online with now problems was Resistance: Fall of Man. My problem is exactly what the trouble shooting guide says is a firewall problem. i don't even use my firewall because of the problems it makes with games. I have a connection amplifier which boosts my signal and i have a excellent signal and everything works great except games. my ISP is comcast and i'm using a NETGEAR modem connected with the cable that came with the PS3. i used another cable so thh problem can't be that. I've moved since getting my PS3 so it can't be the location. I now live in an apartment and other people around me don't have any problems. If you need any more info just ask. hopefully someone can think of a solution because of course the problems can't be caused my COMCAST or SONY.

Hi Maverin1, welcome to TSF.

Have you checked with your ISP to make sure it's not an issue on their end. I think I remember reading somewhere that ISP's sometimes block certain features required by the PS3 to play online.
So if a person plays a multiplayer online PS3 game, they have to go through an ISP?

I thought the PS3 just connects direct to gaming servers, not needing to even have a ISP account. Isn't that correct?

Not always, but certains ISP's block features that are required by the PSN.

If you didn't have an account (i.e. an internet connection) what would you be using to connect to the internet?

I get it. So a person still needs to have an ISP internet account to play PS3 online games. It's impossible for a person to connect directly to the PS3 games server. I understand. Thanks.
