Processor Fan

I currently have an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ model that came with a fan, now i'm looking into a new one, but currently i'm looking at a 2400+ model to upgrade, and i was wondering if the fan would fit. I have no reason to believe otherwise, but i dont want it to get here and have no fan for it. Thanks.

Unless you're having problems with the current heatsink/fan, I'd refrain from fixing something that isn't broken. If you have a processor temperature sensor, what temp is it running at?

No, your missing my point. I'm wondering if i need a new fan if i get a better processor. As in "Will my current fan be sufficient for a better processor?"

well, I look at it this way : more processing power=more heat...but again, Im the tinkerer type and will play around with everything even if its not broke..you should use whatever AMD recommends for that type of processor...will try to research it and let you know...but with AMD, I would get all the cooling I can get because AMD's are notorious for overheating

Well, you're right, I didn't realize that you were replacing the processor, reading comprehension isn't what it used to be.

In general, if I were paying for a new processor, I'd get a new fan just for the service life. As to what fan, I don't have an opinion on that. I recently picked up a couple of 2.4gig P4 chips for an upgrade, I bought the Intel retail package for $12 more, comes with a fan that Intel blesses for that particular processor. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
