I'm definitely not a guru on this subject but I have the same burner. Mine did'nt have the same problems as yours but a firmware flash gave it a major boost in the speed of the drive. I can't point you in the direction of a download page but googleing will find one. Also, I found when burning dvd's that this little utility installed an aspi layer. Basically, you'll need winrar to extract aspichk.rar to check your system to see if the aspi layer exists. On a new system, I'd be surprised if it was there. Then you run forceaspi. It may not be related to your problem but you may as well have all the good gear installed.
