I had some malware problems which I fixed but now windows media player won't play mp3s and gives an error message about a missing codec. I've installed the missing codec and it didn't fix the problem. Additionally no mp3s will play on any internet sights in both IE and Firefox. I've reinstalled media player but that didn't help either( I didn't uninstall and reinstall though). Mp3s will play fine in both Audacity and any other media player I install, currently using KM player but I would like to be able to use my windows playlists. Any help will be appreciated.

That may be the problem. Not sure.
You could also try running sfc /scannow from the command prompt to check for inconsistencies with Windows files.
Also make extra sure that all viruses are gone. Usually I run Security Essentials, Malwarebytes, SpyBot Search & Destroy, and Superantispyware for starters.
