Saw a similar post earlier, but a little different.

When I turn on my notebook computer the the boot up stops at the Windows XP welcome screen and never shows the Account Log-on screen. the hard drive is not showing activity.

I tried to use cntrl+alt+del without any success.

I tried to reboot using the last known good config without success.

I tried to reboot in safemode and all I got was a small window with the Welcome Screen. AGHHHHHHHHHHHHH:angry2:

Thanks Super Cub, Don't have a disc though. I bought the computer new but it didn't come with a disc. Can I make one from my other computer?

If your computer came with a licensed copy of XP the supplier should have given you a copy of the XP software. Now this can come in many different forms. Best to go back to the supplier, if possible and ask for the build/rebuild disk for your system.

A possibility is if you have another copy of XP for this second machine you may be able to use it. It must be the same flavour (Home or Pro).
