It looks like a driver issue, are you sure your drivers are up to date? Try reinstalling them. Have you recently installed any new software? Maybe some compatibility issues are causing it.

Hi,

In the Device Manager, try uninstalling the audio device, restarting your PC and letting Windows detect it again to prompt you to install the driver for it.

There is no point in looking at the "Sound and Audio Properties" window, if the Device Manager does not list the audio device correctly.

To Add to what ReviverSoft and NObb123 said, Go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. In the Device Manager do you see any devices with yellow marks? If so, these devices need to have drivers installed. If you have a name brand computer (HP, Dell etc) go to the manufacturers support/download drivers site and type in your service tag# or your make and model # and download the specific drivers for your computer.
