I recently installed Deus Ex, Arx Fatalis, and Return to Castle Wolfenstien, and all share a similar problem. Upon installing the game, all is well and the game runs flawlessly the first time. However, after doing seemingly anything else, the games stop running. Arx simply crashes to the desktop, Wolfenstien crashes to the Desktop if I try to start a game, and Deus Ex gives me a long error string that I can reproduce if it will help. I am running an AMD Athlon at 1 Ghz and an old Riva TNT 2 card. NONE of my other games have problems like this whatsoever, and these problems only started recently. Any assistance rendered will be greatly appreciated.

I had alot of the same problems, and what worked for me was running game patches (if available) for your games, and updating your sound and video drivers. Try that and see what happens.

Thanks for the help. As it turned out, I had a virus called win32.pinfi and it was corrupting my .EXE files.
