Problem with PC (Unknown Cause)

741 Views 10 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  dai
Ok I am having a problem with my PC and don't really know what is causing it to do this. This has already happened much more than once: OK I have my PC switched ON and have programs that need to be stayed ON and with internet connection.

What happens is when I switch my monitor OFF to let everything keep on going when I am not using PC everything seems OK but when I come back like 3-6 hours later I switch on the monitor and it gives me "NO SIGNAL" and so I hit restart manually and the computer starts up normally but not always, sometimes I press the restart button and it still stays the same so I have to switch the PC OFF for a while and when switched ON again it works.

This has never happened to me while using the PC, it only happens when I leave it alone and leaving it ON. Don't know what kind of problem this is if its from the Monitor, Video Card, Windows etc...

Pls help me out...

check for updated video drivers
why do you manually turn it off instead of letting windows do it automatically
ok I'll get the latest video drivers and see if it continues to do it.

Is it bad so switch OFF the monitor myself?
It sounds like you've got your power saving options set to turn the monitor off after a set time. You should be able to wake it up and get the signal back by moving the mouse or hitting a key on the keyboard.

Don't think I'm that stupid mate and as I told you before this does not happen always.

Well I have updated the video drivers and it has not done it again, hopefully it wont do it again.
there was a set of drivers that caused the pc not come out of sleep mode

Ok thanks for your help, appreciate it..
Ok I had the same problem again, last night I switched my PC OFF and at 12.30pm I went to put it ON again and got the "No Signal" message straight away and tried to turn it ON like 5 times and it didn't work, it even gave me the same message now but on the 3rd try it worked. I dont know if the problem is my monitor or video card.
next time it happens, turn the power off at the back of the computer and then back on and see if it starts straight away

I already tried that and it didn't work straight away
pull the card out and clean the pins and see if that makes a difference
