I'm using a GE 97769 optical mouse. It works fine when I boot up, but then without warning it will just stop. My laptop says that there is nothing wrong with the mouse. I can still use the touch pad on the laptop but the point of buying the mouse was to be able to use it. I need help figuring out what to do to fix the problem.

Welcome to TSF!

Is this mouse connected through the PS/2 port or USB? If it's the USB you can simply unplug it and try it on another port. If it's PS/2 you can reinstall the drivers for the port and see if that helps it re-recognize it.

It is a usb mouse, and I've already tried it on all four of my usb ports, and the problem always shows up eventually.
