Did you use the McAfee Rmoval Tool?

Download the McAfee Removal Tool (MRT); save to desktop. Boot into SAFEMODE (NO Networking) - tap F8 key during boot-up. Then go to desktop, RIGHT-click on the MRT icon and select Run as Administrator.

http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

When complete - re-boot.

Reset the Windows Firewall to its default settings -
START | type FirewallSettings.exe into the start search box | click on FirewallSettings.exe above | select the Advanced Tab | click on "Restore Defaults" | Click Apply, OK

As an alternalte suggestion, have you looked into Live Mail? Windows Mail ends with Vista.

Live Mail --> http://download.live.com/wlmail

Try this -

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Mail

Scroll to WinMail.exe, RIGHT-click on it, select "Run as Administrator"

If you are x86 (32-bit), folder name = C:\Program Files\Windows Mail

Also run SFC -
START | type cmd.exe into the start search box | right-click on cmd.exe | select run as Administrator | type/ paste the following:
Code:
[font=lucida console]sfc /scannow[/font]
Upon completion re-boot to allow files in use to be repaired.

SFC general info - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936212

SFC & the CBS log - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228

See if a different user account can access Windows Mail.

If no 2nd user account, activate the hidden-admin account -
START | type cmd.exe into the start search box | right-click on cmd.exe | select run as Administrator | type/ paste the following:
Code:
[font=lucida console]
net user administrator /active:yes[/font]
Logoff your user account and a new account named "Administrator" will be on logon screen
