My internet has suddenly begun to disonnect frequently and a pop-up comes up saying " local area connection 3 a network cable is unplugged" when it does. At the moment i am using AOL 9.0 and i have tried all the things suggested by AOL technical support: re-installing AOL, re-installing modem driver, re connecting all the physical connections and repairing the APS but none of this seems to work. Does anyone know how to stop this problem?

My suggestion is to set your NIC to 10Mbps Full Duplex. I have seen a lot of machines set to Auto Detect do some funny things lately.

Control Panel, Network Connections, double click on your LAN connection icon, click the Properties button, click Configure, click Advanced, select Link Speed and Duplex, change from Auto Detect to 10Mbps/Full Duplex, click OK and see what happens over the next few days.

Personally, I would unload everything AOL and use Trillian for IM and only access mail via www.aol.com!!

I am confused.

Please be specific as you how you connect to the Internet.
Dial Up?
Cable Modem?
DSL?
Other?

How do you physically connect to your computer? Internal telephone modem? USB? Firewire? Ethernet? Is your Ethernet connection even used in your connection?

It appears that you are looking at something other than your Ethernet connection information on your machine.
