Problem with Excel

I cut and pasted several columns worth of data, some which didn't end up in the right column so I just moved them over. Two columns of data wouldn't move so I just ignored them and went on with what I was doing. When I addressed the issue they can not be cut out, deleted or moved. When I delete the column they are in they just move to another column. This is drastic as this is a big document that I have spent hours on and I had backed up the file before I tried to correct it so don't even have a previous backup before the problem.
