problem with dvd rw drive

i have a hp pavilion a1350n computer with a lite on dvd rw drive model shw-160h6s with this driver 5.1.235.0 my problem is that many times when you depress the button to open the drive door the little green power indicator lights up but the door does not open. if you keep pressing the power button repeatedly it does open and then closes repeatedly and then it works for what you want it to do. i have cleaned out the dust also.
i am wondering if there is a fix for this or will i have to replace this (pos)
computer is 1.5 years old and drive is hardly used, any sugestions would be appreciated.
