Problem with display/monitor

Hopefully someone can help me out with this problem, or at least point me in the right direction.

Anyways, here's the skinny on the problem: I recently purchased an LG 20.1" widescreen display. The native resolution for this particular LCD is 1680X1050. Now under my display properties the MAXIMUM screen resolution I can have is 1280X1024. I absolutely cannot go any higher than this. What's the deal here? Why cannot I go any higher? Is this a video card issue? According to my monitor's manual it says that I may not be able to select certain resolutions depending on on the video card performance.

This is what my primary display setting says I have going on:

LG L204WT (Analog) on VIA/S3G Unichromell Graphics

I believe your stuck with that max resoultion, can you tell me what chipset you have? You can find this by running an application called SiS Sandra, this will tell you all you want to know even your max resoultion.
It's a VIA PM800 Chipset.

According to my motherboard's manual:

- Integrated Pentium 4 Northbridge w/ 800 mhz FSB support and UniChrome Pro 2D/3D graphics controller in a single chip.
Yes, your stuck with your max resolution thats all your intergrated graphics will support, you can upgrade to an agp card.
