Sorry, but I did not see your post yesterday and guess some others missed it also. If you still have the problem, here is what you need to do.
First of all, don't mess with DOS if you are doing the XP Install.
Go to the BIOS setup menu and set your boot order to:
CDRom
Floppy
Hard drive
Don't forget to save before you exit.
Then, put your Operating System (XP) disk in your cdrom, boot the computer up, let it format it to NTFS, and let it install. That is all you should have to do.
