I have a Gigabyte GA-K8VM800M mother board in my PC and at the moment there is one 512MB module fitted into slot 1.
I have obtained another 512 mod and have tried to fit it into slot 2.
The modules are the same.
All I get when I reboot the PC is one of two things. Long single Beeps, or sometimes it will start to boot into the PC Heath screen and then stops.
I have tried the module that I tryed to put in slot 2, in slot 1 and it boots up fine, as soon as I put the mod that was in slot 1 into slot two, it fails again.
Either of the mods work fine in slot 1 but neither work in slot two.

Probably 2 different brands of ram, compatibility issue. Sometimes when
you mix brands this happens. Or it could be the same brand, but a voltage
tick that one stick doesnt like.
Check the voltage spec for both sticks ie, 1.7 volts, if both sticks are
the same voltage go into bios and set the voltage to 1.7, see if that
works. Chances are though that the ram is not compatible with the
board, or can not play well with each other.

Both sticks are exactlly the same either of the sticks works fine in slot 1 but as soon as you put a stick in slot 2 Computor Beeps

Put ram in slot 2 only. See what happens. Inspect slot 2, might be
some slag or something out of order in the slot.,blow it out.
Make sure ram is seated tightly..Not unheard of for a ram slot to be bad
though.

Yeah slot two doesn't seem to work, could be dirt, I have given it a good blow out but think 1 pin looks a bit dirty will try to clean and try again.If I can't get it to work may just try to get a 1gb for slot 1 or maybe a whole new PC this one is about 5 years old.
