I've downloaded dotNetFx35.exe and dotNetFx35setupbut keep getting error code 0x800F081F.

Have followed the instructions at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2734782. Have also watched this process on a YouTube video.

Apparently I need to load a Win10 installation disc so I can load the files from my CD drive, but therein is the problem. My laptop came with 8.1 pre-loaded, and then I was upgraded on-line for free by Microsoft. So I have no disc to load.:banghead:

I need a suggestion for another way to do this as I have some old proprietary software that I used to run on WinXP that I want to continue running now on Win10.

Thank you in advance for helping. :peace!:

You do not need a disc. Go to Start/Search and type appwiz.cpl and press enter. In Program and Features, click on the link on the Left Panel for Turn Windows features on or off. Put a check in the box for .Net Framework 3.5 restart your computer.

Actually I did need the disc as the files were not included in the Win10 as dekivered to me with my laptop purchase. I had already tried this which is how I found out.

But with the disc my problem is solved. I want to thank both of you for trying to help. Once again TechSupportForum has come through for me>
