Hi

I am facing problems with the "History" option of IE. After clearing history thru Tools->Internet Options->Clear History. Few entries are still remains there. These entries are not visible if you press <Down Arrow> of "Address" Combo Box. But if you press the first letter of the those links in the Address Combo Box it appears.

Please help.

Thanks,

Your browsing History will continue to show up under the address bar as a part of the IE8's AutoComplete feature. However, you can keep your History from being stored in AutoComplete by clicking Tools --> Internet Options --> Content Tab (from the tabs across the top) --> and Settings for AutoComplete.

There you can manage what shows up in your address bar. To make sure that your History is excluded, just make sure that the box next to History is not selected.

Does that help solve your issue?

Cheers,

Hi Bryn,

The issue is not to clear typed in search key words. The "Clear History" option is not deleting all URLs that are typed...Few of them are permanently there.

Please help.

Thanks,

First, make sure you are running Internet Explorer 8.

To delete your browsing history in Internet Explorer 8:
1.Open Internet Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, and then clicking Internet Options.
2.Click the General tab, and then, under Browsing history, click Delete.
3. Under History, click Delete history, and then click Yes to confirm that you want to delete the history.
4. Click Close, and then click OK.

If that doesn't work for you, try resetting Internet Explorer's settings by going to Tools > Internet Options and then the "Advanced" tab, and click "Reset..."

I hope that helps!

Bryn

Hi Bryn,
I tried these two options. It deletes newer entries, but those four older entries which are there for quite some time still remains.

Thanks,

Hey Manu,

Sorry that didn't work for you, try running your Junk Cleaner or CCleaner.

You can also try resetting Internet Explorer's settings by going to Tools > Internet Options and then the "Advanced" tab, and click "Reset..."

If you’re still not having any luck, I recommend you reinstall IE8 on your system.

Best,
Bryn
