I tried to help a friend with her new computer to connect to a WEP enabled wireless network. I typed the WEP key but the message came back saying, 'The network password needs to be 40 bits or 104 bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascII characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters.' What should I do to change the setting? I have no problem connecting other computers to the same wi-fi network. Simply click connect and type the wep key. Can someone help? Thanks

FWIW, I recommend you ALWAYS use the hex keys. The ASCII passcodes are not translated exactly the same way for different brands, and so it can cause you issues like this.
