Problem Connecting Thru Router

1727 Views 1 Reply 2 Participants Last post by  johnwill
Recently I've just moved into an apartment and have tried to hook my ps2 and pc up thru my D-Link DI-524 router. The connection will last for about 5 minutes and then the PC light on the cable modem (Toshiba PCX2200) shuts off and doesn't come back on. I'm using Time Warner RoadRunner, which is the same service/modem/router I was using at my parents house and everything was fine there. I call the router's technical support and he walks me thru some steps and then says that its on the cable modem/company end of the line. Time Warner won't help out because they have a Home Networking service and don't support customers doing it themselves. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

First off, does the connection stay up for an extended period if you connect directly to the modem with the system? If so, try a factory reset on the router, since it should connect just fine at factory defaults to that modem. Also, check the D-Link site and see if there is any upgraded firmware for your router.
