hey everyone first post here forum looks very good and lots of info! hopefully i can get some help :)

when i log in to vista it logs in fine and the background comes up and programs start to load but as soon i click explorer becomes unresponsive and then i get a see through white cover over the whole screen like vista does when it becomes un responsive, after this i cannot do anything apart from turn off from power button!

hope some one can give some insight on this matter

sorry for being stupid but where do i run that command? do i start in cmd prompt?
im not sure about the SP's its not actually my computer.

you can run it from the run or cmd box

to check the version in the run box type

winver

then press enter

thanks guys, do you need the windows disk to do sfc /scannow?
as the guy doesnt have it he bought laptop and it didnt come with a disk

hi again guys i finally got the laptop from his to check it out
i ran sfc /scannow and it came back windows found corrupted files and fixed them, but still the same problem when it loads?
any ideas or is it a format job?
