Printer won't work

I keep trying to download a driver for my lexmark z42 printer to work on xp. I actually downloaded the driver but I'm having problems installing the driver and can't print s..t! I feel like I've tried everything but nothing is happening. I know that the printer works cause I took it off my main pc. I had to download the driver to that 1 too. But it worked out fine.
