Printer problems please help!

My printer was working fine then one day it was gone. When I try to add a printer, it says printer spool service not running. When I try to start it in services it says system cannot locate the file. If I use the wizard to re install my printer it says there is a previous printer installed but there isn't. I remove it anyway. When re-installing, it acts as if everything is okay but then at the end says it was unable to install. error rpc not running. in service it shows that it is. i tried using system restore on numerous dates and it keeps telling me it cannot be restored to any of the points I've tried. Can anyone help? I desperately need my printer! Thank you.
