I am having problems with my HP 420 printer, the motherboard lead had a couple of broken wires that i fixed to get the thing going again, but then it would only print in b/w or pink not full color. I made up a new lead & checked every connection with the test meter (every thing ok) plugged it back in & all i am now getting is CHANGE CARTRIDGE LIGHT ERROR & OUT OF PAPER. I am thinking this must be a fault on the new lead. So if anyone can shed some light & point me in the right direction i would be gratefull.

Are you talking about the parallel cable? If so I would be wise to just get a new one.

are there other options...USB ...call HP the low end printer are usally not repairable....they are disposable......pay $200 for a part and the printer only cost $175....make sure you dont get to the point where replacement is cheaper the repair and agravation
