Hi Guys,

I have no idea if i'm asking this in the right place but hey ho i'm desperate. If it's not in the right place let me know where i should be, cheers.

I have a number of print servers on my network, around my workplace in different rooms etc. I would like to be able to have some way of logging which users are printing out what, from where and how many pages they are printing as i need to be able to charge them, at say the end of the month for their printouts.

I have 2 Intel zion 111 and 3 Netgear PS110 print servers but as far as i can see they didn't come with any software to allow me to do this.

Does anyone have any ideas???

Cheers

I don't think the SOHO print servers have that capability. You'll notice that the package merlin mentions monitors print queues, I suspect that assumes a Windows server is providing the print server function. :)

Cheers guys,

I'm running my server on NT 4 sp 6ish so i think that papercut software Merlin suggested should do the trick. It comes with a free trial so i'll have a go and see what happens.

Thanks for the help

I thought the printing was being routed to the Netgear print servers? If so, your NT server never even sees the print requests I would think...

Yep the papercut software didn't work. I'm just new to this job and so i'm still finding my way around the network. If i teleneted onto the netgear server would i be able to look at the print log from there? Would i be able to telenet on to it? If so i think i'll just have to write some sort of script to pull out the information i need. hmmmm
