prescott 478 processor

Bear with me for a moment. I have just recently started tinkering with the "dark side" of the computer kingdom. I decided instead of building hot rods I wanted to be a "Techno Nerd" and just recently upgraded my 5 year old Dell to Max out its memory. That really woke it up but I want more (for less). Prescott 3.0, 3.2, 3.4. Which gives the better performance? Hard to pin down any good reviews.

The 3.4 most likely would be the best performer in the scheme of things. Just make sure you have good case cooling, because the Prescott chips run very hot. Many have to put an aftermarket CPU cooler in there to keep them cool under stress.

My personal choice in a 478 processor is the Northwood which is also a great CPU. They simply don't run as hot, are very solid, but slightly older than the Prescott.
