I have windows 98 on my PC. Recently when I click on a shortcut icon to open a new application after computer has been logged in to Internet for a while I get a pop up window that says:
"This program has performed an illegal operation"
The computer does not freeze but I have to close Internet explorer in order to be able to open the other application. After the new application is open I can open explorer again and everything works. I would appreciate any help to resolve this problem.
As Speedo said, software istallation may cause a conflict of resources (one program may not "like" the modifications made by another program). You may also try to get some utilities to check for that. I personally use Norton System Works and it has helped me a lot. But there are other ones as good as that or perhaps better (let me know if you find one!).
