What have you set all your voltages at in your bios ?

CPU?
FSB?
Northbridge?
Vdimm/memory?
Not sure what others that board lets you change?

Have you tested for stability and how?

I would say it is probably voltages. I would check some reviews on that motherboard and C2D cpu in general and get some recommendations on where to set them, but auto wont work for much more than a 10-25 percent overclock. I'm pretty sure your vcore is too low at the very least. But as far as where to set it, that will be a trial and error solution at best. They are all different.

You need to be really careful as you are raising voltages and keep an eye on temps.

The one other thing I would check is your GPU temp. Those will throttle if they get too hot and sometimes you just wont know they are doing it except that things slow way down.

EDIT it may also be memory voltage. That memory needs at least 2.2v and you have it set on auto. That is a problem for sure.

Set that to 100mhz and no higher.

I'm new to this overclocking as you've probabily guessed. I have the basic principle. Anyway, I have changed a couple of things. What do you reckon?

Set the memory voltage to 2.2v. That is ballistix 1066 mhz right? That memory needs 2.2v minimum. The auto setting just wont do it.

Also, I assume you have CPUZ? Run that and screen shot each tab and post them. That will give a lot of info.

Done the memory voltage @2.25 as it wouldn't let me do 2.2. Here's the cpu-z thing.

Well..I have my sound back. My sound card was playing up a bit but it seems good now. that can be a good thing. I'll run 3d mark in a min.

Nope. Still low fps:4-dontkno

I would download and run FRAPS and then go into real life game play and see what your FPS are.

Also, I'd like to see a superpi 1 million time. Have you got that?

Just done the super pi thing and i'll try fraps in a bit(never used either before).
Is there anything else i need to set on the mobo do you think?

I think that looks like a pretty good superpi time. You may want to compare to others in benchmarks or reviews of that cpu. I have to leave for a few hours so I'll check back when i can.

I would also go to manual overclocking / the overclocking programs arent really worth a salt

Did I miss something? Where is he using an overclocking program? I'm pretty sure he was using bios options earlier in the thread?
