I recently got some viruses from Limewire and was going to reformat my hardrive using my recovry disk. i put the disc in and booted up but it didnt ask if id like to boot from the cd. ive been told its because of BIOS needing to be changed. so i booted and pressed F1 to go into setup mode and i got a black screen. what do i do next?!

Hello aletrick21,

Did you press F1 during the boot process(as soon as you power on the pc).

Make sure it is in fact F1 (some pc's use <Del> or F2 ).

Once able to get to BIOS you can change the boot order to cd-rom.

What is the make/model of the PC?

so you have a new monitor and looks like the specs of the monitor wont display your bios. so are you asking for someone to give you commands to press in the dark to enable cdrom to boot?? kinda hard unless someone else has a similar or same system at least same ver bios...lets see..some bios have an option for f# to enale boot choice menu instead...

try F1 go into bios, F5 (default bios), press left key, Enter key, F10, Enter.

IF NOT...then reconnect another monitor...something older that what you slapped on there now. =)
