I have just reformatted my harddrive and reinstalled my Windows XP Home Edition. When I reboot and/or start my computer it black screens and states

"PLEASE SELECT THE OPERATING SYSTEM TO START."

"MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION"
"MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION"

Why do I need to go through this everytime and why is it listing two.. ??

Just to be on the safe side go to My Computer, right click properties > advanced > start up and recovery > settings and uncheck time to display Os's. DON'T !!!! change the default OS. And say ok ok. This should solve your problem. You can also go to your ms config and boot.ini and delete the boot line for the old OS listing. But since both are same OS you dont need to confuse and risk yourself. Just uncheck the box. Should do the trick.
Wouldn't going into normal mode... going to:
start -> run -> typing msconfig -> boot.ini -> check all boot paths

Then have it auto take out the line that doesn't need to be there... fix it?
