hey there,

i had a almost perfect working laptop (dell inspiron 6400)
but after using it for the past 2 years, i decided to format it
and reinstall XP, which i have done now.

however after doing that, everything is wipped off the harddrive
i have saved my private data beforehand, but things like
dell drivers etc arent working properly eg i cant play any
videos or music at the moment, which isnt a big problem if
my internet would work, i would easily download/update
codecs, drivers etc...

but the big problem comes in now, my internet is not working
because the WIFI light isnt ON, and there is no hotkey on the
dell laptop to turn that on manually, futhermore i believe
the WIFI card is not installed anymore on the laptop
for which they did NOT provide a CD when i purchased it.
WHAT CAN I DO NOW, how to turn on the WIFI to connect to
the net, please help me out !!!

hey, i have tried all network drivers , nothing seems to work
any other suggestions ?

If Wireless Network Connection does not appear under LAN or High-Speed Internet, i may not have a wireless network card.

how is that possible, i used it where is it gone now after formatting

yellow errors with a question mark are under
- OTHER DEVICES

Ethernet Controller
Network Controller
PCI Device
PCI Device
SM Bus Controller
USB Controller
Video Controller
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

i didnt get that VEN/DEN part ?
under properties, there are 3 tabs - general, driver, resources
under all problem cases, in the general tabs, the device status is
- drivers for this device are not installed (code 28)

I'd install SP2 then try the drivers again . . if that does not do the trick, you may have to reinstall XP again then install the drivers in the correct order.

You can download SP2 here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...be-3b8e-4f30-8245-9e368d3cdb5a&displaylang=en

After you have the drivers installed, update to SP3 while the system is clean

none i guess
Right click on My Computer and select Properties . . the next screen will tell you the service Pack level
