Older computer....has Windows 2000 and won't boot. Want to delete Windows 2000 and load XP, but can't get system to boot. Gets to Start Up and then freezes.

Any ideas what to do?

Boot from the XP CD, delete the 2000 partition, and install XP on the unpartitioned space.
