I need some help but please keep in mind i'm not very tech savy so any help would be greatly appriciated.

So heres what happen.

I have an Acer aspire 5336-2524. I was trying to install my HP printer to it via cd that came with it. well I kept getting this error (data error ____) can't remember the rest. One of the solutions was updating windows so I did, Well after it installed Internet Explorer 9 I've been having issues with my touch pad. I can't highlight anything, can't drag or resize windows and can't use the scroll part of the touch pad . I've been searching online for the past 2 hours onn a way to fix this with no luck. I've tried restarting it, that function F7 thing and removing the battery.

Did you upgrade from Windows XP or Windows Vista?

Also have you updated the driver for the touchpad?

thanks for responding, no i didn't upgrade to xp or vista. I belive the updates were a service pack, Internet explorer 9 and something jst called Microsoft windows update.

How do i Update a driver?

Fill in the infomation and then scroll down in the list to find the driver.

Why not try System Restore to go back prior to these updates. What model HP printer and is this an old printer you tried adding to the new laptop? If yes then you need to go to HP - United States | Laptop Computers, Desktops, Printers, Servers and more and download a new Windows 7 driver for the printer.

Rich-M Thank you soo much I never thought I'd be so happy to Highlight something. The HP printer is a HP deskjet f2430 maybe a few years old the Acer Laptop is alittle over a year old. I'll try the update for the windows 7 driver next. Big thanks to both of you. keeping my fingers crossed this works.

Thank you sooooooooooo much I was able to restore my laptop to what it was before and thanks to your link to update the windows 7 driver i was able to get my printer set up on my laptop. I'm so glad I came here instead of paying someone to fix it. Thanks again. It is so appriciated.
