Hi,

I seem to have gotten several trojans via MSN Messenger the other day and despite all my efforts at removing it i have not succeeded. My system is exceptionally slow... and i am at my wits end as to whether i should just reformat my HDD. Please can you urgently assist!

You still have more than one AntiVirus installed, though one of them is now different.

I see you have more than one Anti-Virus program installed, Avira, Avast and Bitdefender. While this may seem like greater protection, it can cause problems including slowdowns and system hangs. It also can prevent any of the applications from properly protecting your system.

Choose one to keep and uninstall the others.

Any antivirus program must be removed via add/remove program.
For any program that doesn't have an add/remove entry, you will have to do this:
re-install the program -> reboot -> uninstall

A format is always an option, and is the most certain to return a machine to a pristine state. However, if you want to try to clean the machine, we do have a very good success rate.
