I added a new sata 500 wdblack. Copied working drive contents, and works fine when the original drive is connected, and boot from new drive. When I disconnect the old original drive.. it hangs at windows xp screen.

Any thoughts?

Is the old drive SATA or IDE? Did you Clone the drive or just copy/transfer the contents?

Sata. I finally found an answer after a day and a half..
Evidently Ghost14 requires that you copy your drive to an unformatted unalocated section of the disc. I created three partitions, loaded the no primary partitions over.. and then deleted the primary partition, and copied the old C drive to the unallocated space in the size that I wanted. That ended up working.

I read tons of searches before finding this workaround..

Thank you for responding

Glad to see that you got it going but it is odd that you had to go through all of that.
i use G14 and have never had to do that.

Im running dual boot and have only reimaged Vista.
But all I have done was to format the Vista partition and then replace the image.
My boot files are on the XP side.
I wonder if it is due to the boot files being copied as well that caused your troubles.

Cloning eliminates all those problems. Acronis is the best software that I have found.
