I am a complete noob when it comes to desktop video cards. If I buy an Alienware A51 750i with a single GTX 295, can I buy a second one later?

How hard is it to add a second one yourself? If I pay for single it still comes with 2 PCIe slots, right?

Hello,

Yes you can just have the 1 installed and add the second later.

Not hard at all to install the second card.

You will still have the slot available for it.

Here are the specs on that particular MB

Alienware actually uses their own junky brand power supplies and probably will struggle with just one installed. It's best to avoid companies like alienware and voodoo all together. They overcharge for their computers specs. Best just to go 100% custom.
How much power is needed for 2x GTX 295's?
i could only guess at this stage for 2 at a min of 1000w+

the bfg card makers recommendation for 1 card is 700w+
Yea probably 1000watts or higher , 1200 would be good.
I remember reading that the GTX 295 takes 2 sockets or something? I can still SLI these right?
It takes up two free bays but only uses one pci-e slot per card.

So will I have room or not?
yes, but i cant see you ever needing another 295. I have one and there is nothing i've seen so far that it cannot run with everything 'on'.
