Hi im a 15 year old teenager so bear with me! i have recently took my old hard drive from my old pc and installed it as a slave drive on my new pc. My aim was to get all my old files such as music, word files ect.. off of it. but wen i want to access documents and settings off of it it says access is deniend this works for all the other accounts but allows me to go into shared documents and settings. Please could u explain this to me as simple as possible thanks replys would be appreciated.

I'm using xp hme edition but the old harddrive ran on xp pro i tried setting the drive as master but there was a bot faliure. Thanks for this i really appreciate it!!!

Other info:

my pc runs with a ata interface and my old drive is ata i moved the jumper so it was master but no luck!!!

The old drive is a seagate product.

are you trying to run it as a single drive or slaved to another drive
if it is slaved you set the jumper to the slave position
if it is the only drive run it as master,but you will have to do a repair install before it will operate and then run the m/b setup disk to install the m/b drivers
