Please Help - Invalid RAID Drive

3287 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  robpgreer
Here's my problem. I have 2 72GB WD Raptors RAID 1 (boot/os). I also have 2 300GB Maxtor RAID 1 (storage). Or perhaps I should say had since the 300GB suddenly stopped working. I went to the RAID setup and saw the message "Invalid RAID Drive" next to the first 300GB drive in that RAID set. If I unplug each drive, the remaining drive still doesn't show up after booting. However, if I unplug either of the 72GB drives, the system still boots fine off the remaining drive. Can any of you nice wonderful folk out there tell me what I need to do in order to get to that data on the 300GB drives? The "repair" option within the RAID config tool says there is nothing to fix.

Thanks so much for any help you can provide!

I just want to make this clear for myself.

RAID1 = Mirroring, so if 1 of the 72 GB HD fails the other one will pick up until the damaged drive is replaced and if one of the 300 GB HD fails the other one will pick up until the second 300 GB is replaces so that it can start scrubbing again. I'm not sure how it works with SATA, I'm only familiar with SCSI. If this is what you mean then move on.

I know that this may be dumb but is the PSU supplying enough power to all the devices?
