Hi folks,

I am try to help my friend to get rid of the annoying mIRC V 5.7 on his Windows 2000 Pro SP3 PC.

Everytime, when my friend turn on his PC, the mIRC will pop up but for some reason I can't uninstall it (can't find the program in Add / Remove) and use regedit and delete all registry values of mIRC, but this doesn't help.

So may I know what should I do to get rid of the mIRC ??

Please advise ASAP.

Possible IRC backdoor?

If you have a virus scanner, make sure it is up-to-date. Scan for virus's and see what it reports. There is also IRC Hijacker spyware which could be the problem! Downoad Spybot! Google Search: Spybot

Hi gomcse, welcome to the forums....
Did you friend knowingly download mIRC ? If you cant find it in add/remove, it might be planted there by someone with bad intentions. mIRC is a commonly used platform for injecting viruses, worms and such. Did you scan his machine for viruses ?...you can also look for c:/mirc/ or c:/program files/mirc ... some older versions require you to delete files manually
