Please help?? Error Code!!

Hi please can anyone help me, I had got my partners laptop, sattelite pro L40 series working, I allowed the messenger through my firewall?? I keep getting error 80072ee7 ????

I read in some help page I should do that??? now it starts up connects, I manage to sign into windows mesenger, yet cant get on google?? it will start up then says internet explorer cannot display webpage..

I have re-conected ethernet & saved the wep code etc, but it just stops working? I can then only get local connection, internet connection gets lost but when I check it says connected??? I finally realised that the laptop had stopped updating drivers & bios, I have not managed to update windows defender tho?? please any ideas?? thanks so much for replies, im sure I will get there eventually???
