The other day I went to play a video and it would only play sound. Very little video showed up and anything that did was distorted/scrambled.. mostly black screen.

So, I ran Windows Update and updated everything except Internet Explorer. It fixed my video.. I watched videos yesterday.

I came back today and they don't work again!

Any ideas on what to do?! I have Windows Media Player 10 installed, as well as WinAmp, and Media Player Classic.

Okay.. I just went into WinAmp settings and turned off "Allow hardware video overlay (reccommended -- best performance)" and video plays in WinAmp again, but turning that on makes it not work.

I have a BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC 256MB.

Video still will not play in Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic. I hate WinAmp playing my videos and only like it for mp3's.

I rebooted into safe mode and went into control panel under Sound & Video. I went into video codecs and deleted everything. Audio too. Rebooted and it works. Let's see if it works tommorow.
