The sound and pictures badly distorted when playing DVD on my computer. Pictures are jerky and the sound is like people talking underwater. There is also an echo.

The Blaze DVD video software plays files stored on my hard drive OK. It also plays .iso files mounted on the virtual DVD drive I have installed. The same problem exists with Cyberlink Power DVD so I am thinking that the DVD drive is faulty, although it burns DVD/CD without problems. I have tried out two commercial DVDs. Both played perfectly on my laptop computer.

Unless anyone can come up with something I should try I suppose I shall have to buy a new DVD drive. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks. Will give that a try but I forget to mention that when I last played the same movie DVD, on the same computer, using the same OS and the same DVD playback software, it played perfectly so I am pretty sure the drive needs replacing although it is only two years old.
