im having issues with the play to feature. i believe it is an issue with windows 7 settings because if i boot off my old hard drive the function works but not when using the newer drive. this has been an issue for a long time. when i open a file location and right click the file i click play to xbox 360. the xbox will notice this and try to load the movie it will even show the movie title at the bottom then shows a loading circle for a few min before saying playback issue. the computer will say there was a playback error and it will never play the movie. what can i do to fix this?

Sounds like it could be a speed issue on your network. Are one or more devices wireless? That could be the issue. If you can, I'd try connecting both the computer and xbox to your router with a cable and see if the issue goes away.

both the computer and xbox are wired. the only thing i use wireless on my network is my laptop and phone. this same computer that is having the issue the feature works when using my old hard drive but my old drive is not stable and could crash at any time. the issue happens when using the newer hard drive witch had a clean install of windows when it was installed.

i fixed it. after much messing with it i found out the issue was that my pc is connected to a router on a router this is to be able to setup my own homegroup on the second router while my uncle has his homegroup on the first one. well my pc was seeing the second router and saying i was connected to both networks one being a home network and one being a public network. anyways i disconnected from the public netowrk and it started working.
