I am considering a new inkjet printer, Pixam MP 287

PIXMA MP287 - Canon Malaysia - Personal

I went to a shop and asked about the printer and they told me its ink catridges has a integrated print head. This means whenever I replace the ink catridges after it is empty, I will also replace the printer head. The sales person guaranteed it but will not let me see the insides of the printer, thereby making me doubt him

My question is, how does one know whether the printer uses integrated print head or fixed head. Can one know just by looking at the print catridges. It uses PG-810 or CL-811 catridges.

Thanks

I believe the Pixma MP280 has it's printhead inside the printer, and that the shop assistant has mis-informed you (maybe through lack of knowledge rather than a deliberate lie).

Go here and scroll down to the bottom, you'll see that it's supplied with two ink tanks and one printhead. The printhead is supplied as a separate component which is installed into the printer when you assemble it (as was the case when I bought a new Pixma, though not the same model).

CANON - MP280 - PIXMA INKJET PRINTER

Therefore, the cartridges do not have a printhead, they just contain the ink.
