Pipe State is Invalid

2294 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  usasma
My computer has run into a lot of problems recently, so I thought the best course of action would be to reinstall Vista. When I go to run the disc, however, I am greeted with a message that reads "the pipe state is invalid". This happens when I try to access many programs on my PC. What can I do to fix this?

Do you still need help with this issue?
I would first suggest ensuring that you have all Windows Updates for your system.
Next, I'd scan your system for malware
Then, I'd run SFC.EXE /SCANNOW to ensure that your system files are intact
SFC.EXE /SCANNOW
Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)
At the top of the search box, right click on the cmd.exe and select "Run as adminstrator"
In the black window that opens, type "SFC.EXE /SCANNOW" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Let the program run and post back what it says when it's done.
