When writing over or saving over the original file it is usually gone. Since you used the phone you might be able to get the picture there but I would say call the provider of the phone for a possibility of getting it back.
A good rule when working on any graphic that is there is to make a copy under a different name say just add a number 1 to the end of the filename like abc1.jpg and this way when saving you can also use save as instead of just save.
You might want to try a system restore to before the picture got overwritten. It might work....
