Photos Recovery

HI, I have transfered some photos on my windows xp laptop from my iphone. After transfered, i deleted those pictures from my iphone. Two days ago, i was using paintshop and trying to combined two photos (jpeg) together. But accidentally, i clicked on save and overwrite the photo. Now the two photos i combined is there but the original is gone. Let me clear that i did not delete the original. I was just messing with the original and put the other two photos on original and saved it. I have searched almost everywhere on my hard drive but couldn't find it. Is there any way i can get my original back?? I know there are alot of software but i don't know which one will be the best for this kind of problem. I have downloaded some free software and scan my drive but it is not showing the picture which i have overwritten. Neither, the one i've combined. So plz let me know if my picture is completely gone or i still have chances to recover it.

Welcome to TSF....

When writing over or saving over the original file it is usually gone. Since you used the phone you might be able to get the picture there but I would say call the provider of the phone for a possibility of getting it back.

A good rule when working on any graphic that is there is to make a copy under a different name say just add a number 1 to the end of the filename like abc1.jpg and this way when saving you can also use save as instead of just save.

You might want to try a system restore to before the picture got overwritten. It might work....
