This problem has been with me for ages, I've been through Windows XP, Vista and now Windows 7 and still this Phonic Firefly 302 sound card won't work properly, it use to work for a while and then stop... and after a reset to the computer work again... Something is really wrong with the drivers because windows is identifying the device just fine, but it identifies it as a sound device only after the phonic control panel decides to recognize that the device is connected (once every couple of resets...)

No support from company, by the way.

Not much I can think of to do. It could be faulty drivers or faulty hardware, which isn't surprising as it's a generic or no name card. Get a different card, even a generic Sound Blaster card (starting at $10) will at least work.
