I'm not entirely sure if this is the proper place to post this, but it seemed most appropriate.
Currently I'm in the Marine Corps, but prior to my service I was an Internet Programmer, hosting well over a hundred websites on a dedicated server provided by Brinkster. Since I've joined I still host a lot of these websites, but I've lost the time I require to maintain a server hosted in another state (another country right now).
My intention is to build my own server, combining the majority of my external hard drives and adding in a dozen or so more. Right now I have 23x2TB, 13x1TB, and 7x3TB drives with a total of 18 TB free (no it is not all hosted content, far from it).
I'm looking for suggestions on what OS' I should get, server-side software, hardware components for the server, etc. The intent is to have .5 PB of storage space, though not right away. So whatever I build needs to be expandable, and I have no delusions that it'll all fit in a single case.
Thank you in advance. ^^
