Gateway desktop that was upgraded with windows xp (bad news) have removed and reinstalled windows 98se....so far so good. The only problem now Device Manager under "other devices" is flagging PCi Ethernet Controller with yellow !!!. I tried to reinstall drivers but no luck. Can someone please help.....thank you


P.S. How do I find out the manufacturer and model

Did the card come with the Gateway computer? Is the brand name or model number written on a sticker on the network card (open your case to see)?

Download and run "Everest Home" it will tell you all about the Hardware installed on your computer (Its FREE)

Thanks Kodi the site did the trick...and now I have another problem. My windows 98se lost the Internet Explorer 5.5 and the only IE I could find to download was "Advanced" explorer unfortunately it is too much stuff for the windows 98se to handle.
Can someone please tell me where I can find a download for IE 5.5 and how to remove the Advanced IE. Thank you

You can download IE6 with service pack1 from HERE
You should be able to remove advanced IE from Control panel.
